It's been the core of grassroots hot rodding since the very beginning: you're on the street with your car, another rodder pulls alongside, and you go at, drag racing to see who has the quicker ride. Illegal street racing found its way to sanctioned tracks as early as 1949, and that's when street-driven cars began to morph into pure race cars. Yet for 65 years, hot rodders have remained interested in real street-driven cars that are also fast on the strip.
